From the handwritten recipe

Bacon/Butter Broth

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp bacon grease
  • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 8 oz warm water

Directions

  1. Warm 8 ounces (1 cup) of water until hot enough to melt the butter, but not boiling.
  2. Place the bacon grease and unsalted butter in a heat-safe mug or small saucepan.
  3. Add the warm water and a pinch of salt.
  4. Stir or whisk thoroughly until the butter melts and the fats disperse through the water. For a more evenly blended drink, use a milk frother or immersion blender in a deep, heat-safe container, keeping the head submerged to avoid splashes.
  5. Serve warm, stirring again if the fats separate.

Recipe notes

Yield: 1 cup (8 fl oz). The handwritten card lists ingredients only; the directions explain how to combine them without changing the quantities. Bacon grease may already be salty, so the pinch of salt can be adjusted to taste.

This is a fat-and-water broth rather than a traditional meat stock; the fat may naturally separate as it stands.
