From the handwritten recipe
Cat Food Topper Gelatin Treats
Ingredients
- 1/4 tsp plain, unflavored gelatin
- 2 Tbsp cat food topper (moist or liquid, cat-safe)
Directions
- Measure 2 tablespoons of your cat’s preferred moist or liquid food topper into a small heat-safe bowl.
- Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon plain, unflavored gelatin evenly over the topper. Let stand briefly to hydrate. If the topper is thick, stir thoroughly to distribute the gelatin.
- Warm the mixture gently, stirring until the gelatin dissolves completely. Do not boil. If using a microwave, heat in short bursts and stir between them.
- Pour or spoon the mixture into small silicone treat molds.
- Refrigerate until the treats are firm enough to unmold. Keep refrigerated and use within 2–3 days, or freeze individual portions for longer storage.
- Offer a small molded treat as a topper or snack. The original card says “Add 1/4 tsp to Food,” so start with a 1/4-teaspoon portion if using it as a food topper.
Original card notes
The original notes read “To Toppers,” “1/4 tsp Gelatin,” “2 Tbsp” (cat food topper), “Mix,” and “Add 1/4 tsp to Food.” The molds and serving as cat treats are part of the recipe’s intended use.
Important: Use only plain unflavored gelatin and cat-safe toppers without onion, garlic, xylitol, or other unsuitable ingredients. Treats are supplemental, not a replacement for complete cat food. Texture depends on the amount of liquid in the chosen topper.
