“Catalina” Salad Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup catsup (ketchup)
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 small onion, grated (or onion flakes)

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large-mouth jar.
  2. Shake until blended.
  3. Refrigerate in a covered container. Shake again before using.

Kitchen and Family Notes

The original claims indefinite refrigerator storage; that is not reliable food-safety advice for homemade dressing, so it has not been repeated. Family connection: Beverly Keukelaar was personally known to the keeper of this cookbook and remembered as a wonderful lady. Preserve the original ingredient spelling 'catsup'.
