Foil Wrapped One-Dish Dinner

A community recipe contributed by Mrs. Linda Orrvick.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chuck steak
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 3 medium carrots, quartered
  • 3 medium celery stalks, quartered
  • 3 medium potatoes, halved
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Tear a sufficiently large piece of 18-inch-wide heavy-duty aluminum foil for the steak and vegetables.
  3. Place steak in the center. Sprinkle onion soup mix over the meat, arrange vegetables on top, and dot with butter.
  4. Fold and seal foil securely, set on a baking sheet, and bake approximately 1½ hours, until meat and vegetables are tender.

Kitchen Notes

For safer handling, keep the foil packet on a rimmed baking tray and check that the meat is cooked thoroughly.
