Glass Cleaner

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1 cup Dawn dish soap

Directions

  1. Warm the white vinegar gently until hot but not boiling.
  2. Remove from heat and slowly stir in the Dawn dish soap, avoiding excessive foam.
  3. Allow the mixture to cool before pouring it into a clean, clearly labeled spray bottle.
  4. Spray a small amount onto suitable window or mirror glass, wipe to loosen dirt and oily buildup, and thoroughly rinse away the soap using a clean damp cloth. Buff dry with a lint-free cloth to reduce streaks.

Family notebook notes

Mother originally titled this formula “Bathroom Cleaner” and crossed it out. The reason is unknown. In later personal use, the same vinegar-and-Dawn combination worked well as a glass cleaner for windows and mirrors. It is presented here under its updated name, Glass Cleaner.

Surface caution: Test a small inconspicuous area first; avoid natural stone, delicate finishes, and surfaces whose manufacturers advise against vinegar. Do not mix with bleach or other cleaning products. Because this is a soap-rich mixture, rinse and buff glass well to prevent streaks.
