Family notebook notes
The original page is titled “Hummingbird Nectar,” also known in the family as “Hummingbird Crack.” It lists a bowl and spoon and calls for mixing sugar into boiling water until dissolved, then filling the feeder. The daughter reports this formula works very well.
Feeder care
Use plain refined white sugar only, with no dyes, honey, or artificial sweeteners. Cool nectar before filling. Clean feeders frequently and replace nectar often, especially during hot weather, to avoid spoilage.
