Mother’s Double-Wide Power Wash

Ingredients

  • 7 cups white vinegar

  2. Spray straight down at an angle.
  3. Tarp or otherwise protect plants before washing.

Family history

Mother lived in a double-wide home in a North Carolina park. The park required exterior washing twice a year, and her daughter recalls that Mother regularly used this vinegar-and-water recipe for the job.

Other notes on the page

Below the vinegar mixture, the notebook also lists “bleach,” “Clorox Outdoor Bleach,” “always dilute,” and “oxygen bleach.” These are preserved as separate cleaning reminders or alternatives, not ingredients in the vinegar mixture. Never mix vinegar with chlorine bleach, as toxic chlorine gas can result. Check siding manufacturer guidance and avoid high-pressure water around seams, windows and electrical fittings; keep plants protected.
