Family notes

Handed down through the author’s mother’s Dutch family. The author made this dish many times and regularly requested it when visiting her mother. The finished dish is essentially mashed potatoes with lettuce and chopped eggs mixed in, with pieces of bacon throughout. The author remembers it as delicious despite its unassuming appearance.

Family clarification: the potatoes are mashed, and the family’s default oven temperature is 350°F unless a recipe states otherwise.
