Contributed by Barbara Stalker.

  • 1 pound cranberries
  • 2 small packages lemon gelatin
  • 1 large orange

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • Sugar, about 2–3 cups, to taste
  • 1½–3 cups water (original range; 1 cup boiling to dissolve gelatin, remainder cold)

Directions

  1. Peel and skin orange. Wash and drain cranberries; core apple.
  2. Grind cranberries, orange and apple together.
  3. Dissolve lemon gelatin in 1 cup boiling water.
  4. Add cold water and the remaining ingredients; sweeten to taste.
  5. Chill until set.

Kitchen and Family Notes

Original notes that a hand-operated grinder loses more juice than a food processor, and advises using more water for the former. The printed water range is unusual; follow gelatin-set consistency and check the original before preparing.
