Biscuits

  • 1 cup plain pumpkin purée (not sweetened pumpkin pie filling)
  • ½ cup peanut butter, without xylitol/birch sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup neutral oil
  • 2½ cups whole-wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Optional glaze

  • 2 tablespoons melted fat that firms when cool, such as coconut oil or chicken fat; original also suggests bacon grease
  • ¼ cup smooth peanut butter, without xylitol/birch sugar

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350°F. Prepare a baking sheet.
  2. Mix pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs and oil in a large bowl. Add the flour and baking soda, stirring and kneading until the dough comes together.
  3. Roll out the dough and cut into shapes, or form small flattened rounds. Arrange on the sheet.
  4. Bake for approximately 15 minutes, adjusting as needed for thickness and until baked through. Cool before glazing.
  5. For the optional topping, whisk the melted fat with peanut butter until smooth. Drizzle sparingly over cooled treats, then chill until set.

How This Recipe Was Used

Actually made for people: The Hungry Canary creator made these biscuits for her submissives who participated in pup roleplay, rather than feeding them to dogs. She has made a number of animal-treat recipes with ordinary food ingredients for human participants. The recipe's original source is a dog-treat recipe, but its use in her kitchen was for adults. Exact personal adjustments to this particular batch have not been specified.

Critical ingredient check: Peanut butter for dogs must be free of xylitol, also labeled birch sugar, which is toxic to dogs. Avoid seasoned or sweetened pumpkin filling. Cool fully before offering and store leftovers appropriately.

Kitchen status: Made by the creator for human participants. Specific ingredient modifications have not been reported.
